The dry northern winds bring freshness into the region, and also new ideas. One of these ideas is the wine cooperative, founded in 1934 by 27 winegrowers. Over the years it has grown to become the largest wine producer of the new German states. Today the cooperative manages some 400 hectares of grapevines. In total, 400 vintners work for the cooperative. Fairness, trust, a shared pleasure in winemaking and collegial cooperation means each individual vineyard is a part of the complete collaborative work of art. The result is a diverse range of wines with distinct bouquets recognisable across Germany.
